Skin of Christ

The Skin of Christ the Redeemer is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and an emblematic image of Rio de Janeiro. This jewel is inspired by the extraordinary but lesser known story of the statue, which was built entirely with donations from the Brazilian people. During construction, small paper triangles with the names of the families/donors were placed under the outer layers of triangles/tiles of ‘soapstone’ (millions of pieces) that cover the statue and can only be seen with the naked eye when viewing the statue up close.

The ‘Skin of Christ the Redeemer’ is a charity/jewellery project in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro, as part of the proceeds will be donated to support the social projects of the Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer.

The artist’s tribute pays tribute to solidarity and to the people who silently contribute to a better world.
There are two versions of the jewel, in two sizes. One with the arms outstretched and one with the perspective of the Christ the Redeemer’s face taken in three quarters.

Social action
A portion of the profits from each jewel is donated to the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro for social action.
